My Toddler

Addison decided to try walking this weekend. There was no standing independently for this little lady. She just went straight to taking steps. In the past few days, she's gotten better than I would have expected. I'm not looking forward to the running stage, but hey, I'm one step closer to potty training!

A little time away

Jamey has a week off school this week, so my wonderful mother decided to give us an amazing surprise. She booked us a room at their timeshare in Pagosa Springs. She also took tuesday off work, so that she could watch Addy. We dropped Addy off at Grandma's work on Monday afternoon and headed off to Pagosa. On Monday night, we went to the Pagosa Hot Springs. It was amazing, well kind of. I've been to the Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, but Pagosa was a lot better. They have several different pools that are different temperatures, and it was fun to hop from pool to pool. The only downside was that we failed to remember that it was spring break. There were kids everywhere. And, I don't mean just any kids, I mean Texan kids in their preteen years. You know, that annoying age where they think they can do anything they want. There were kids doing flips into the Hot Springs. It was so annoying, and their accents just made things worse. I saw so many freaking Texas license plates that I wanted to yell at them to go home. We finally found an 18 and older pool and relaxed.

On Tuesday, we woke up earlier than I would have liked and headed up to Mesa Verde National Park. It was so interesting to see how people lived hundreds of years ago. We were bewildered that pople without our technology would build the amazing structures that they did. My motherly insticts kicked in when I worried about how they kept track of their little babies on those cliffs.

By the time we were heading back, I was missing Addy so much. I kept texting my mom to see what Addy was doing, and I couldn't wait to get home to see her. This was the longest that I've been away from her since she was born, and it was rough on me.

Jamey got the job offer today, so in about 5 weeks, we will be packing our things and heading to Arizona! Jamey will be stationed at the Dangling Rope Ranger Station. He will be a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and will be responsible patrols by boat and foot. He will be able to make arrests and give tickets. He will assist in search and rescue missions and when first responders are needed. He's most excited to carry a gun.

Addison and I will live in Page, AZ and Jamey will come home on his "weekends". He has to live at the park while he's on duty, in case of emergencies. I'm excited to finally be settling into our life, and finally getting out of the parents' house. We are extremely grateful to our parents for all of their support during this crazy time, but we are ready to be out on our own.

Decisions....

As Jamey's training begins to wrap up, he has been applying to pretty much every National Park in the west that has a Law Enforcement opening. So far, he's applied to Rocky Mountain NP in Estes Park, CO; Florrisant Fossil Beds NM in Florrisant, CO; Sand Dunes NM in Alamosa, CO; and Dangling Rope RD and Bullfrog RD at Glen Canyon NP in Utah.

He received a call back from Bullfrog for an availability check and job offer, but had to turn it down due to the fact that they don't have family housing in the vicinity. I mean, I may be one tough cookie and able to tough it out for 12 weeks without my husband, but I wasn't looking forward to 5 or 6 months without him.

We are still waiting to hear back from the others. Keep your fingers crossed that he gets a job offer for this summer! If not, I have no idea what we'll do.

A day with the girls

On Monday, Addy, NiNi, and I decided to spend the day outdoors to enjoy the beautiful weather. First, we went to Washington Park. We walked around the park, and then we let Addy play on the swings and a few other toys at the playground. She loves swinging and really likes it when you push her high. Nicole thought that she was going to high and was going to get scared, so she stopped her. Addy proceeded to cry furiously. Nicole thought she had gotten hurt, but when I stepped in and started pushing her again, Addy began laughing. It was so funny. After the park, we drove to a little ice cream stand and got the tiniest cones I've ever seen. They were perfect for Addison, and she really enjoyed it. I had a really good time just spending the day with the girls. I'm looking forward to next weekend when we get to go visit NiNi in Denver again. Hopefully, the weather will be equally nice.
