My New Job....

is interesting to say the least. I wasn't quite sure what it was going to be like when I started. I knew that I would be working as an emergency dispatcher for the National Park Service, but I didn't totally know what that entailed. I have now been working for two weeks, and I love it! We dispatche for not only Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (lake powell), but Bryce Canyon, Canyon de Chelly, Bureau of Land Management, as well as some Utah State Parks and Arizona Game and Fish officers. It's pretty intense! We are responsible for dispatching law enforcement, emergency personnel and other park rangers. We also listen to marine band radio for potential water emergencies.

Yesterday, we got a call about a houseboat with 15 people on board that was sinking. It was a pretty intense 3 hours before we got the situation resolved and all the passengers safe and sound. After a few hours, we had a guy in a small boat with two children on board trying to make it back to the marina in the 5-7 foot swells. We advised him to stay put if he could find a place to camp. He didn't listen to us, because what would we know- we just had dealt with a sinking house boat, and decided he'd try to make it home. He called us two other times very scared. We chastised him and told him to find a place to camp, but he kept trying. Finally, at 2:30 am he made it to shore.

We get all kinds of crazies on marine band. Today, we had a lady who rented a houseboat and got lost on the lake. It's amazing that they will give keys to a huge boat to anyone with a credit card.

We MOVED!

Finally, all the waiting is over. While we were very sad to leave colorado and our family and friends, we are excited to start a new chapter in our lives. We left Colorado on May 2nd and figured we would have good weather (maybe a little rain) the whole way to Arizona. We were wrong.

Sunday started out a little chilly, but sunny. Jamey was soooo excited to get back to work.

We got a little outside Cortez and it started SNOWING! I was really not excited about driving wolf creek pass in the snow.

It had even snowed on the res in Arizona.

On Monday, we took my parents to the lake to check things out. They weren't too enthused with the chilly weather. They had been told that Arizona was always hot.

Addy didn't let the wind bother her. She chased ducks and ran on the beach and played in the water.

Later, we took my parents to the Dam. My dad works with electricity, so we knew he'd be excited to see the hydroelectric plant. He was amazed.

Things here in Page are going really well. We are all unpacked, and I've decorated the apartment. Jamey is in Heaven being back at work. Addy is adjusting to life in a new time zone. She started at her babysitter yesterday and did wonderfully. I started my new job on Tuesday and though I was nervous, I love it. It's going to be a fun summer. I am still learning the ropes and it will be difficult, but I've survived the 1st two days, plus I am making twice as much as I did at Target, and I am working full-time! Are you ready for some football?

My brother Tyler plays for the Pueblo Steel (a semi-pro football team). We LOVE football and were very excited to get to see him play in his 1st game on the night before we left. It was great to see football in May! I would encourage anyone in the Pueblo area to go watch them!

They ended up losing by a touchdown, but definitely had the capability to do very well. It was their 1st game and they played against a team who was playing in their 6th or 7th game. Hopefully, they will win tomorrow! They play at Dutch Clark at 7!

Our Last Hurrah!

The last few day before we left colorado were a little hectic. Between packing, cleaning, and me working until the day before we left, we didn't have much time to have fun. We did make time to go to the zoo one last time with Ammon and his mommy. Addy's going to miss him so much this summer!
